Thomas and Mommy reading together.

Here are Thomas and Mommy reading Dinosaur vs. Bedtime, Thomas's favorite book, on the couch tonight.  Thomas pulled himself up on the couch, sat in the corner, and held his book, roaring along as he flipped the pages while Mommy read the other story.

Tuesday

Thomas is a busy little boy, commonly fueled by peanut butter.  He's in a phase where he tries to throw everything.  He's saying more words and is also trying to walk, not crawl, down stairs.  He can climb on top of the couch by himself, even if he has fallen off once or twice.  We think that he's a very smart little boy, but we can only pray that he uses his powers for good.

I'll eat the bread, but I'd rather just lick off the peanut butter.

Daddy tried to pose the ball on his shoulders (like Atlas), but  Thomas didn't like it.

Thomas would much rather read books with Mommy.

Thomas loves weddings and bunnies

This weekend we got to spend time visiting old friends at a wedding.  The wedding was wonderful. In between the wedding and reception, we stopped by to visit some family. Despite all the kids, toys, dogs, and cat, Thomas most enjoyed the bunny. At first I'm not sure he knew it was alive, as he tried to pick up the bunny by its ears. Fortunately, the bunny was very timid and didn't mind being pushed around by a 16 month old.  Thomas enjoyed pulling the bunny onto his lap and would then laugh when the bunny would hop forward. This may have been the longest Thomas has sat still in a very long time.

Daddy decides to help

Thomas is very astute as he tries to learn how to blow the perfect bubble.

At the reception, Thomas was in awe of the DJ's disco ball.

All's fair

This weekend was another action packed weekend. We went to see Joe's cousin Cassie perform at the fair. She did very well, although we didn't get to watch her. Thomas enjoyed the experience regardless. He saw the "tra-tors," as well as some sheep, horses, cows, goats, and chickens. He especially loved petting the baby chick and was startled by the snorting cow.

He loved it, I swear.

Thomas is not so sure about the huge horse.

How can we get Thomas over the fear of the horse? Let Uncle Randy hold him.

"Look, Papa, a sheep!"

Maggie's party

We had fun at Maggie's first birthday.  Here are some pictures of the festivities!

The birthday girl...
...her cake...

...they meet..

...and she devours it!

Georgia

We recently spent a week down in Georgia, visiting our family down there.  We were down there for our niece Maggie's first birthday.  We enjoyed playing with all of the kids, and we soon saw how jealous Thomas could be.

Sometimes you had to carry both kiddos.

Hands can be very tasty.

Grandmama with her grandkids.

Charlie and Thomas watching some TV together.

Thomas enjoyed the toy kitchen.  He would hand you a cup, wait for you to drink it, and then put it back in the kitchen.
He did this many times.

A Thomas sized table!

Annie liked climbing trees.

July 4th

Although it was hot, Thomas managed to keep cool in the pool.  He did well during the day, but lost some steam heading into fireworks.  He seemed to like to see the fireworks, but didn't like how they sounded.  Our night ended early, anyways, because we saw some lightening off in the distance.

Playing by the pool with Grandma and Cassie.

Getting some refreshments.

Check up

Thomas went to the doctors a few days ago.  Our boy is healthy, long, and lean.  He is almost 32 inches long (75th  percentile) but only 21 pounds (10th percentile). His head is 50th.  He got two shots, but recovered quick enough to walk out to the car. The doctor asked if he's started talking. We were proud to report he can say 15+ words, which surprised the doctor who said typically kids his age only know about 3 words. He's a quick learner and loves to read, as seen below.

Thomas: moving faster and faster

I used to think that it would be easier to blog when Thomas was older.  He'd be doing more things, giving us more things to write about.  It seems, however, that after chasing the boy around all day, we don't have any energy to post. On top of that, we've been dealing with some very warm weather.

Keeping cool the best we can.
Thomas has picked up some particularly frustrating habits.  When he sleeps, he usually finds a way to fiddle with his diaper, sometimes taking it off completely.  One time he took off his diaper and threw it out of his crib.  When we came in and saw what he had done, he looked at us and said, "Where's the diaper?"  Another frustrating habit of his is throwing things.  He throws toy balls (not a problem), but he has also thrown metal trains, books, and sippy cups.  We don't have a picture of him doing this, because we are usually trying to grab whatever he has in his cocked arm.
